Hello,

Please don't post the same message on multiple forums ;)

What confuses me in your question are these multiple surnames: what's the source of this information?

Hello firefghter2341,

Are you studying the ascendency of Nicole Defresne/Dufresne and Jeanne Savonnet?

https://gw.geneanet.org/foxwud?lang=en&pz=nils&nz=akesson&p=jeanne&n=savonnet

On this tree, and on many others, the ascendency is quite dubious, it looks like a juxtaposition of names whose only link between them is similarity.

William has found the birth record for a Jean Dufresne, but I strongly doubt that this one is an ancestor of Nicole and Jeanne.

Sorry for posting double. No I don’t know of any Nicole in my lineage, I have a Nicholas. I tried reading the birth certificate really blurry going to see if I can somehow clean it up to read it maybe. Thanks everyone for replying greatly appreciated. I have been getting info from WikiTree, ancestry.com, and family members. Jean wife’s maiden name I believe is the P name I posted.

Hello,

I couldn't read the text properly. So I asked for help from a sympathetic lecturer who is a specialist in Latin and paleography. This is what he was able to read.

In Latin

Die Mercurii XIIa mensis februarii batizatus fuit ...
filius Petrus Dufrene et Julliane Pel... eis uxoris et
levat de sacro fonte huius ecclesiae Johta Bourdry Johts Monisse (Morisse?)
et Guillta adstante testibus ....

Translation

On Tuesday the 12th day of the month of February (1521) was baptized ... son of Petrus Defrene and Jullia Pel ..., his wife. Raised (the child) above the holy font of this church: J. Boudry J.T. and Guillemette (?) the witnesses present ...

The child's first name is an abbreviation/contraction, Johta, Johea, Johra, the same as the baptizer. Is Johta the contraction of Johannes Baptista? Or does it say Johes and is it "just" Johannes after all?
Mother's last name is too blurry, to read properly.

The names are all subject to change, I am not familiar with the regionally common (last) names....

Kind regards
William

Ok! Thank you for doing that. Yeah it’s defiantly confusing. I am proud of my French heritage and always look forward to learning as much as I can. Jean DUFRESNE and Julianne Pelerin are my 13th great grand parents I am trying to go as far back as possible to find his parents. My great grandfather Elphege when he was still alive still spoke French fluently and his church did mass in Latin I wish he was still alive so I could get answers he passed when I was 15.

Thanks again

The witness are those Jean Leray Dufresne’s parents? I know Jean and Julienne Pelerin had a son named Pierre which if I am reading right is the one that was baptized.
