I and my family are hoping someone can help with the search for the origins of our Great Grandfather, William (Wilhelm) Schink. We only have family oral history to work on and that has been that he arrived in Liverpool, England as a young teenager (14?) and jumped ship there and stayed. The earliest record we have is his marriage certificate for 1886 showing him as 23 years old, so birth would have been circa 1863. We have no idea where in Germany he was from other than, again, family oral history which has always named Cologne as where he originated but this, obviously, could be wrong. His father's name on his marriage certificate is also given as William. We have no luck in tracing him anywhere else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
