Sorry for my lack of Spanish Language…! We are searching for the Birth of Juan GALLEGOS in 1818 in Donostia-San Sebastian, Guipuzcoa.

Juan moved to Australia in the 1840s and died in 1868 in Armidale, NSW, Australia.

His mother is said to be Ynes GARCIA FUENTE.

More info on:

Anyone in San Sebastian willing to help us on this case? Muchas Gracias!
Many thanks for your help.

In the Basque Country, where Donostia / San Sebastian is located, the diocesan archives are digitized. In the rest of Spain, no. You would have to go looking diocese by diocese.
Could the city you are looking for be San Sebastian de los Reyes, province of Madrid? I give you the link of the Diocesan Archive of Madrid. Luck.

Dear lumaflo,
Many thanks for your message! And congratulations for your perfect English!

I have tried to search on Archivos Communidad de Madrid. I signed up as a member in order to view the registers but unfortunately, they can't appear on my screens! Problem is Flash Reader, I suppose...

I now have a new problem...
Listed as Juan-John Gallegos' mother, we sometimes find:
Name: Ynes Garcia Fuente
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 25 ene. 1775 (25 Jan 1775)
Baptism Date: 1 feb. 1775
Baptism Place: LA Asuncion,Almenara DE Adaja,Valladolid,Spain
Father: Josef Garcia
Mother: Maria De La Fuente
Maternal Grandfather's Name: Simon De La Fuente
Maternal Grandmother's Name: Maria Alonso
FHL Film Number: 1332191

Cited as source: Source Information
Ancestry.com. Spain, Select Baptisms, 1502-1940 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations, Inc., 2014.

We're now in Valladolid ! Any way we can check for a San Sebastian in this province, and possible birth fo Juan-John ? Date: 1815-1820.

I know I'm asking for a lot, lumaflo;
Please don't feel obliged, I'll search myself if I get the right Site Address.

Leaving the matter in your capable hands!
Saludos mi amigo.

Hello again:
From what I see, in Valladolid there is a Church of San Sebastian. There is no municipality in Valladolid that is San Sebastian.
If you look at the Mormon lists, the church where he was baptized appears, and hence your mistake.
Look in the diocesan archive of Valladolid. Good luck again.
