Below is an entry from Dublin church records in 1693. I assume it is a transcript from hand written information and there may be some error in transcribing. Can anyone tell me where Chatéauné en Poitou is?  I cant find it on any maps.

Chasseneuil ?
Chateauneuf ?

Hi,
Try Chantonnay (Vendée) :

Vendée is actually in "Pays de Loire" but was in "Poitou" before the French revolution :

My original information also mentioned that Jean Brethe was also from the village of Maison Neuve . I have found other information that his wife was from Maisonneuve. I know there is a Maissonneuve near Poitiers, but I also note that there is a road named La Maisonneuve just south of Chantonnay. Can anyone tell me if there was a place named Maisonneuve near Chantonnay?

Hi,

"La Maison Neuve" means "The New House", so this name is very used everywhere in France.
For Chantonnay, there is a place called "La Maison Neuve" at the south of Chantonnay :
https://www.google.com/maps/place/La+Maison+Neuve,+85110+Chantonnay/@46.6564149,-1.0632088,9065m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x480692245771e1fb:0xa9aa5bed25d8399d!8m2!3d46.639907!4d-1.03296

The archives of church records in Chantonnay begins in 1693. So you should try notaries archives to find some clues.
