1809 - 1865

Salvitelle, Salerno, Italia

Notas : Index to the marriage registers of the municipality of Salvitelle in the Province of Salerno created during the period 1809 to 1865. The index is based on the duplicate registers kept in the State Archives of Salerno and digitised at the Portale Antenati. Dates are for the registration of the solemn promise to marry; from 1815, the registers also recorded the date of the church wedding which followed and these are included in the 'notes' section, along with any other pertinent information. There are two gaps in the series, covering the periods 1816 to 1817, and 1819 to 1829. For 1816 to 1817, the banns can be found in the surviving 'processetti' volume covering those years and will be indexed separately; there is no substitute for the 1819 to 1829 gap. Usually, the register books are arranged annually and entry numbers restarted at the beginning of each year; for 1813, 1814 and some 1815 marriages, the register is bound into one book and the entry numbers are continuous. Before 1830, the registers do not give the place of birth of the spouse; to find this information, users can consult the 'processetti' volumes (also on Antenati). Where either spouse or any of their parents were domiciled outside of Salvitelle at the time of marriage, this is recorded in the 'notes' section of the index.

1866 - 1910

Salvitelle, Salerno, Italia

Notas : Index to the marriage registers of the municipality of Salvitelle in the Province of Salerno created during the period 1866 to 1910. The index is based on the duplicate registers originally kept in the Tribunale (District Court) of Sala Consilina, now in the custody of the Tribunale of Lagonegro. These records were microfilmed by FamilySearch in 1997 and are now available to view online (film no. 2016161). Dates are for the registration of the solemn promise to marry; unlike earlier records, the date of the subsequent church wedding was not recorded in the civil registers. There are two gaps in the series, covering the years 1866 and 1886; there is no substitute for either year as the 'processetti' and 'pubblicazioni' are also missing. A small number of other individual pages are also illegible/not photographed. From 1876, there were two parts two the register - part 1 for marriages in the town hall, part 2 for marriages that took place elsewhere, including at home or in a different comune. From 1909, these parts were further subdivided into series. Additionally, before 1876 a few marriages from outside the comune were recorded in the register (the first being in 1869. A place of marriage is therefore recorded for each marriage. Where either spouse or any of their parents were domiciled outside of Salvitelle at the time of marriage, this is also recorded in the 'notes' section of the index. Sometimes marital was indicated in the record, e.g. "vedova" or "vedovo", and this is indicated in the notes; it would appear that this information was often not recorded so the absence of this note should not imply that the person had not previously been married before.
